Sydney-based game development studio Alta is exploring the possibilities of the still-young virtual reality platform, which is enjoying a rapid increase in prominence in the gaming world. Their game, A Township Tale – which is still in development – marries several distinct styles of gaming, such as open-world, sandbox, VR and social multiplayer.
As the title implies, A Township Tale takes place in a small town setting, with each individual participant assuming a certain role, such as mining or smithing. Ultimately, the aim is to assemble a cohesive community by having gamers carry out these roles. This in turn dictates the trajectory of the players’ lives and outcomes in the world around them.
A Township Tale is currently in pre-alpha stage, and was on display at RTX Sydney, where we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to demo the game.
