The third instalment in the notoriously challenging Dark Souls RPG franchise will receive its first expansion pack – named “Ashes of Ariandel” – which will be available from October 25th on PlayStation 4. A trailer for the DLC was published on Twitter, then promptly removed, suggesting a premature or accidental announcement.
A previous leak suggests the expansion pack will feature new maps, enemies, bosses and weapon and armour sets.
The fact that DLC would, in fact, come to fruition for Dark Souls 3 was confirmed by the appearance of a season pass on digital marketplaces in February. This season pass will give access to Ashes of Ariandel, plus a second forthcoming DLC. Furthermore, a recent tweet from the developer stated that a “major announcement” would be made on August 24th.
