The newest downloadable content pack for EA’s Star Wars: Battlefront will launch soon, with season pass holders being given access on June 21st. Otherwise, it will become available for everyone else on July 5th.
The DLC will be based around the gas planet of Bespin, more specifically Cloud City, as seen in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. It will Cloud City in which the new maps are set. An additional hero and villain character will also be introduced; original movie characters Lando Calrissian and Dengar, respectively. Furthermore, two new weapons will be included – the X-8 Night Sniper and EE-4 blaster.
As for the new Hero and Villain, EA describes them as follows:
“Dengar is a villain that thrives on being in a fight. He wields the DLT-19, which makes him the first Hero with a heavy blaster so far. Lando is very skilled with a blaster too, but his greatest talent comes from knowing the odds and using tricks against his enemies.”
Battlefront’s Bespin DLC also adds new game modes, star cards, and more, all of which will be announced at a later date.
After Bespin comes Death Star (autumn 2016), while the final planned expansion, which currently has no name, will be delivered in early 2017. If EA is to make announcements about the future of Battlefront, that could happen during the company’s E3 2016 briefing this Sunday.
