MLG sold to Activision Blizzard for $46 million

Esports organisation Major League Gaming has reportedly sold all of its assets to the Call of Duty and World of Warcraft developer Activision Blizzard Inc. for the sum of $46 million. MLG convened its board of directors in a special meeting to authorize the sale of its own company.

MLG was founded in 2002 and has hosted countless professional gaming tournaments.

As part of this transaction, MLG CEO Sundance DiGiovanni has been replaced by former CFO Greg Chisholm. This year also saw the departure of MLG co-founder Mike Sepso who now works as an executive for Activision’s esports division.

The exchange was approved despite lacking the consent of all MLG’s shareholders.
