In an exciting announcement, the CEO of Polish game development studio CD Projekt Red was quoted as saying on a Polish TV station,
“It’s too early to talk about it, but it’s not like we’re forgetting about this brand…It wouldn’t be fair towards the fans. We work within this universe for over a dozen years now and I don’t think it’s going to be the end of it.”

Immersive gameplay, stunning visuals and a compelling storyline saw “The Witcher 3” take home many prestigious awards.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt enjoyed enormous commercial success, having sold over 6 million copies and taking home both Game of the Year and Developer of the Year at the recent 2015 Game Awards. Aside from its commercial reception, the fantasy series has also garnered a huge fanbase among the gaming community, and has been hailed by fans and critics alike as one of the best RPGs of recent – if not all – times.
We can, however, be fairly certain that the story of Geralt of Rivia has reached its conclusion, so we shouldn’t expect the series’ longtime protagonist to make a return. With their upcoming release Cyberpunk 2077 being the developers’ most immediate concern, we can expect another Witcher title to be a few years away, as they have not yet decided on the direction in which they want to take the franchise.

Perhaps major “Witcher 3” character Ciri will return as the main playable protagonist in the next game.
We could speculate that major and semi-playable character Ciri from The Witcher 3 might return in the series’ next instalment, as implications are made that her struggles are far from over.
What do you think? Would you rather play as Ciri or see a brand-new character introduced?
