Gwent, the card game featured in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, will be released as a standalone game for console and PC. Initially, a beta will be run on Xbox One and PC, and the full release is set for September on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
A CD Projekt Red developr said the studio had received “thousands of emails” asking for a standalone version of Gwent, and the game has subsequently been in production the past year.
CDPR have stated that the game will include a “full-blown” multiplayer experience, including cross-platform online play, and a single-player campaign.
The mechanics and core gameplay of Gwent will remain the same, while the visuals have undergone a major overhaul.
